Derwin has also worked with non-profits, serving as Chief Fundraising Officer for Ronald McDonald House Charities at Duke Children's Hospital and as a member of several non-profit boards.

Kerra Bolton is principal of Lightning Bolt Media, a communications consulting firm. A 14-year veteran of media, Kerra has served as Capitol Bureau Chief for the Asheville Citizen-Times and Communications and Policy Director for the North Carolina Democratic Party. In addition, she has been active in public broadcasting, producing stories for UNC-TV and hosting her own show on WNCU Radio. The New York Times and Gannett Newspapers have honored her with writing awards.
John McHugh has served the State of North Carolina for 10 years, most recently helping North Carolina secure federal stimulus funding from the Office of Economic Recovery and Investment. John has also served as a legislative analyst for the North Carolina Governor’s office.
